About Burbank, California
From its beginnings as a sleepy agricultural community to its journey to becoming the media capital of the world, Burbank is the epitome of Southern California. Formerly home to pillars of the manufacturing and aviation communities, Burbank is a great place to live and work. Buena Vista Street was Walt Disney´s preference for his Disneyland park, then called "Mickey Mouse Park." And the hillside neighborhood was once considered for the home of UCLA! It´s easy to see why home buyers continue to come here to find their dream homes.
One of everybody's favorite Burbank neighborhoods is Magnolia Park. Here you will find lots of 2- to 4-bedroom family homes with ample backyards. Clothing and antique shops line Magnolia Boulevard. If you own horses, you may wish to consider the Rancho area where you can find homes with stables close to Griffith Park riding paths and the Equestrian Center.
Note for June 2009: Conforming loan interest rates went up last month from their March 4.85% low. They are running at about 5.5% now. At present, the strongest local market segment is for homes under $727,000. FHA lending plans are currently widely popular as the downpayment requirement is only 3.5% and it can all be a gift. Sellers can help with FHA closing costs, too. Yes, the local market has experienced a price decline. But the areas I serve have not seen the serious depreciation and foreclosures that other localities have experienced. Is it a good time to buy or sell? That depends on your needs. For sellers, profits are still very likely, especially if you have owned your home for more than five years. For buyers, interest rates and prices are very favorable. |
